Scheduled messages

TECHNOLOGY

Write a text or an email now and send it later, without leaving the composer.

A small feature of its own, built from parts the Inbox already has. Each rule below is embedded from the page that owns it: comp-inbox-composer-schedule.

Scheduled messagesTechnology

Status

PRESCRIPTIVE. This page brings back Schedule Send, left out when the composers were merged on 2026-09-11. The scheduling logic and the backend do not change: this is the control only.

Scheduling a message

From the send square to a picked time.

1 · Split send — the send square gains a caret (PRESCRIPTIVE)
resting — text is typed: send and the caret are live
Agent
Reminder: your test drive is tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
caret hover — the caret takes the send hover fill
Agent
Reminder: your test drive is tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
disabled — nothing is typed: send and the caret are disabled
Agent
Compose a message or use a Template
The send square is unchanged and sends now. The caret on its right is the one new part (.cp-sendsplit, .cp-send--more): it opens the Schedule message menu, and it is disabled whenever send is.
2 · The menu — Schedule message (PRESCRIPTIVE)
menu open, from noon — it opens upward from the caret
Agent
Reminder: your test drive is tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
Schedule message
The standard popover (.sb-popover): its quick choices follow the clock, in dealership time, the same every day. Before 8:00 AM the first row is Later today at 9:00 AM; from 8:00 AM it is Later today at 1:00 PM; from noon there is none. Tomorrow at 9:00 AM always follows. Then Monday at 9:00 AM: it reads Next Monday at 9:00 AM on a Monday, and is left out on a Sunday, when tomorrow is that Monday. Custom time is last.

After scheduling

Where a queued message waits, and how it is changed.

4 · After scheduling — toast, feed row, row menu (PRESCRIPTIVE)
toast — success, with the time
Text scheduled for Tue, Oct 13 at 9:00 AM
feed row — the queued message, above the emptied composer

A success toast gives the time, and the feed shows the existing Text Scheduled row. The row's menu holds Edit Scheduled Text, Reschedule and Cancel Scheduled Text.
5 · Editing a queued message (PRESCRIPTIVE)
editing — the send time, Change and an x; the caret and the other tabs are disabled

Sends Tue, Oct 13 at 9:00 AM
Reminder: your test drive is tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
While a queued message is edited, one line shows when it sends (the existing .cp-logrow). Change opens the custom-time sheet.

Channels and mobile

Which composers have it.

6 · Channels — which composers get the caret (PRESCRIPTIVE)
Email · purple — the same split send
Note · orange — the single send (same markup, the caret is hidden)
Agent
Cross-shopping the Bronco — pull a trade quote before Saturday.
Only Text and Email have the caret. Every other channel keeps the single send.
7 · Mobile at 390 — a long press on send (PRESCRIPTIVE)
mobile composer — the same markup, the caret is hidden
Agent
Reminder: your test drive is tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
No caret on mobile. A long press on send opens the desktop menu's choices in the bottom sheet (.sb-sheet), and Custom time uses the wheel (.sb-rolodex).

Engineer note

Engineer note. (1) The edit endpoint must check a new time before Reschedule and Change ship. (2) The mobile long press must not collide with the send button's tooltip.

The ruling is in the Inbox rulings ledger (10-08, 10-09). Every embedded fact is owned by the spec page it comes from.
